LEVEL III SECURITY OFFICER – COMMISSION RENEWAL
This course is a 6-hour (minimum) course for qualified individuals seeking to renew their Level III Texas security license.
This does not apply to a noncommissioned security officer.
*Handgun and Shotgun qualification courses will be held at the Bracken Rifle and Pistol Recreational Range
OVERVIEW:
SMR Training academy has developed a continuing education course required for renewal of a security officer commission. SMR provides a department-approved instructor who administers the continuing education course. The course will include at least (6) hours of instruction determined by DPS.
A commissioned security officer must demonstrate the proficiency required under Section 1702.1685 within the 90-day period before the date the commission is renewed. This course will also include a written exam.
